Sunny Kurapati

Sunny Kurapati, also known as Sunny, is a Cinematographer and Photographer by profession. He was born in Hyderabad, India. He was attracted to fine arts since childhood, Sunny took up a two-year course in animation once he was out and worked for a year. He then realized that lighting and animation have potential, and pursued a Bachelor's degree in photography. He even said that despite his knowledge of photography, he could not get a place in the movies, and after getting disappointed by the situation, he went for an additional degree. He studied fashion, wildlife, and street photography and developed an interest in documentary shots.

After completing two years in photography and one year in cinematography, Sunny still struggled to make his way into the film industry. Unlike most graduates, he did not want to take up jobs related to visual effects and storytelling. Instead, Sunny spent three years as a photographer, shooting portfolios and wedding photos. He started investing money and earned enough to study for a master's in Europe. He went to learn more about the world cinema and got admitted for a three-year course in film school in Prague.

Sunny began to work on short films and documentaries in Prague and Berlin. He already had a VFX background, which helped him in post-production. He then returned home to Hyderabad, India, for personal reasons. Two months after his return, he signed the script of Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya. Sunny was anxious about Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya because its genre was comic detective thriller, which gave it a limited appeal. Dorasaani (2019), on the other hand, is a period film. He worked in this movie with much more confidence. Bedurulanka (2023), livE vol 1, 8 am Metro (2023), Anni Manchi Sakunamule (2023), Middle-Class Melodies (2020), Aham Brahmasmi, Krishnamma, etc are some of his famous works. He worked as the Director of photography in all these movies.
