Harini was born on 30 April 1979 and is an Indian movie-described singer and traditional singer who sings in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada movies, laboring with various prominent movie songwriters. She is married to another movie-described singer, Tippu. Harini learned Carnatic music from Gowri and Radha Viswanathan from the age of four. She used to take part in school programs, and in one program that she won, A. R. Rahman, who assigned the prizes, requested the winners to his workroom to record their voices.
Later, she was named by Suhasini Mani Ratnam to chant Nila Kaigirathu for her first movie, Indira. Her first song, Nila Kaigirathu, was recorded at 15. Since then, she has accepted proffers from different music directors beyond South India. Within an occupation comprising a decade, she sang over 3,500 songs in four South Indian languages, with 35 devotional albums in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
