Kamal Sabran

Kamal Sabran is a short film director and music composer in Malaysian films; He composed the music in the movie named ‘Jagat’ which was a 2015 Malaysian crime drama film directed by Shanjhey Kumar Perumal. In this movie, Kamal Sabran and the Space Gambus Experiment composed the film score and the soundtrack.

There were 11 soundtracks and also, the film had a separate soundtrack strictly for promotional purposes called 'Jagat Naan Nalla Paiyen' Kamal Sabran is an artist, designer, and researcher. His work consists of beautiful paintings, some video art, short films, creative sound art, and installations.

In 2004, he won an award for the best New Media Artist at the Malaysian National Art Gallery, and in 2007 he won the ASEAN New Media Artist Award from the Indonesian National Art Gallery. Sabran has also created award-winning music videos.

His short film called Lumpur was a part of '15 Malaysia' (2009), an omnibus film that consists of 15 short films by 15 Malaysian filmmakers. '15 Malaysia' was a short film project. It consisted of 15 short films made by 15 Malaysian filmmakers.

These films not only dealt with socio-political issues in Malaysia, but they also featured some of the popular faces, including actors, musicians, and top political leaders. Kamal Sabran directed the short movie ‘Lumpur'. It had a poetic and beautifully constructed ode to Malaysia- the film was a tribute to its people, places, and the enduring spirit.
