Shylaja Chetlur

Shylaja Chetlur wanted to see her creative ideas flourish on the silver screen. She even wanted to be the big cheese of the film industry. So what could be her option? She always dreamt and imagined to be the creative force in a film's production. Hence, her objective was to evolve as a content creator, director and even a performer in the field of theatre, television, and films. She is one of the few female film-maker down south. In one line to sum up her full profile, one must admit saying that Shylaja Chetlur is helping to raise the profile of female directors in the industry, particularly in South Indian cinema.

Shylaja is also very keen to hold events for film member to cover a diverse range of industry-focused topics as workshops, seminar, panel discussion, and screening. One of the most debatable topics that she held in Chennai was a meet for K. Balachander where a roundtable discussion was held with actress Suhasini Maniratnam. It was an excellent program in honor of the veteran filmmaker Balachander who made female-oriented movies down south and raised the status of women who were cast in the ‘touch-me-not’ image or who would not be those heroines who would become dancers behind actors for some song sequences.

Also, she is also the founder and managing trustee of Cinema Rendezvous which is a kind of film club in Chennai that screens high-quality of films for cine buffs, short filmmakers, students of film institutes, budding and young film artists. Cinema Rendezvous is a non-profit organization that was floated by Shylaja Chetlur and supported by Naga & Arunmani Palan, Nina Reddy who is also Joint managing director of Savera Hotel.

The Club holds film meet in every second Saturday in Savera Hotel that makes a special bond with film artists down south. It is the trustee, advisory board and other core members of the Cinema Rendezvous Club decide on the screening of the films. Shylaja Chetlur has set up a Media Production House - Shylaar Productions that enhance cost-effective corporate filmmaking and corporate video production. The production company also makes high-quality documentaries. It also provides the line production support for any other kind of content needed for development of films.

She was associated with a serial 'Rudraveenai' which is directed by Naga and who is also the creative head of ''Pudhiya Thalaimurai' TV channel that focuses on regional and global news. The serial was aired in 2002-2004. Shylaja also was very much present when TV serial ' Sahana Sahana is the sequel to a successful Tamil movie " >> Read More... ' was telecast on TV channel. This series is considered to be part-2 of Sindhu Bhairavi Sindhu Bhairavi currently airs on Raj TV; it is di >> Read More... ' (film). The serial was aired on Jaya TV in 2003. She was also the host of a populate talk show 'Cinema Karam Coffee' on Vijay TV where she shared some Kollywood gossips.

Shylaja Chetlur is also the producer of the short film 'He, Him & Himself' (2018). She even acted in the movie 'Ticket' (2017) directed by Raaghav Ranganathan She is a member of Andhra Chamber and Hindustan Chamber of commerce and is committee member o Chennai International Film Festival.

Also, she is the moderator of many seminars held in Chennai that dwells topic on woman issues and entertainment even. Shylaja Chetlur is also the producer of the short film 'He, Him & Himself' (2018). She even acted in the movie 'Ticket' (2017) directed by Raaghav Ranganathan.
