Venkat Sundar Tamil Actor

Venkat Sundar

Venkat Sundar is a Tamil actor, who mostly appears in the roles of supporting characters. Born in Kalveerampalayam, a rural area in Coimbatore in the state of Tamil Nadu, he attended KGISL Institute of Information Management in his hometown. Since early on, he had an interest in acting but never pursued it because his traditional family was not eager for him to work in films. However after he graduated in 2008, Venkat overturned his reluctance and collaborated with his old friend Ganesh Kumar Mohan (famous for his hit short film Kuttimaa) for quite a few short films, including 536, Achuvam Naanum, Ramasamy, Oorukku 4 Peru (often shortened to O4P). In 536, Venkat starred in the lead role of a wealthy and spoiled brat in a village. The shooting took place in Narasipuram. Since Venkat has a natural flair for comic roles, this short comedy was a hit among the audience. His other film Oorukku 4 Peru also gained popularity and was screened multiple times across the country. After being spotted in these movies, director S. Shankar offered Venkat the supporting role of a college senior in his 2012 movie Nanban, which marked his debut in Tamil Cinema. His next role was that of a military man in Yaaruda Mahesh in the year 2013. Venkat got his big break when he landed the part of "Appu" in the Tamil comedy thriller 'Naaigal Jaakirathai' (English title: Beware of Dogs) in 2014. The film was an adaptation of ‘Turner & Hooch' and earned both critical and commercial success. Critics especially praised Venkat for his acting in the film. The same year, in the month December, he also appeared in 'Kappal' (English: The Ship). It was a romantic comedy and earned positive critical and commercial response from its international release. Venkat's performance was one again well appreciated. Post the success of 'Kappal’, Venkat permanently moved to Chennai for his work. Venkat has officially stated that he never believed he could play lead roles but also said that it didn't matter to him, as he is more focused on the impact a character has on the film rather than the size of the role.
