Jeppiaar Jesuadimai

Jeppiaar Jesuadimai is a well-known entrepreneur, educationist, and politician. He was born on 11 June 1931 in Muttom, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. His father is Jesuadimai, and his mother is Panimalar Ammal. He named the educational institutions after their parents' names. He graduated with a Bachelor of Law from Madras University and earned a Ph.D. from Anna University. Jeppiaar  was the founder and chairman of Jeppiaar Educational Trust, founder and chancellor of  Satyabama Institute of Science and Technology, formerly Satyabama University, and the president of the Consortium of Professional, Arts, and Science Colleges of Tamil Nadu.

He has done a lot of work in the privatization of engineering education in Tamil Nadu. In his political career, from 1972 to 1982, he was a secretary of the Chennai district AIADMK party. He has served different services as The chairman of Madras Metro  Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Director of Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation, and Honorary services as an Elected Member of the Legislative Council.

In films, he has produced  Tamil movies such as Vasantha Azhaippugal (1980), Pani Malar (1982), Unnai Vida Maatten (1985), and Nallaithai Naadu Kekum (1991). He directed and acted in the film  Nallaithai Naadu Kekum (1991). Jeppiaar was awarded Honorary Colonel by the National Cadet Corps(NCC) Directorate, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman Nicobar.

He passed away on 18 June 2016 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, at the age of 85. A museum was made on the premises of Satyabama University in his memory. The museum depicts the life and achievements of Jeppiaar in different fields, such as academic, social, and cultural circles. It also has a collection of various portraits. The museum was designed by the artist A. P. Sridhar.
