Upasana Iyer is an actress and model based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She predominantly works in the Kollywood film industry, particularly in Tamil films, commercials, and TV Shows. The film was about a character named Venkat who hails from the city of Rangoon, Burma. He lives as a Tamil Burma repatriation in a neighbourhood called Annai Sivagami Nagar, also known as Burma Nagar in Ennore, Chennai.

The film shows the struggle of Venkat’s family, who in search of a better livelihood, have migrated from their native land to a neighbourhood of Chennai, with many other Tamil-Burma repatriates. Upasana played the role of Venkat’s sister named Renu in the film. The director Rajkumar saw the pictures of Upasana when she was into modelling and asked her to come for auditions and she was selected for the role. For her character, Upasana worked very hard and had to undergo a transformation in dialect, costume, and body language.
