Maran (popularly known as Ghilli Maran) was a singer and actor of Indian origin. Manimaran, later shortened to Maran belonged to the district Chengalpet in Tamil Nadu. He was born on June 4, 1972. He worked primarily in the Tamil film industry. He was mostly seen in supporting roles and made his debut in the year 2002 with the movie Ezhumalai. His next movie was Ghilli (2004) which was a major hit and got him noticed. He was also a live performer and used to sing at various events and music shows. His filmography includes Kuruvi (2008), Mappillai (2011), Dishyum (2006), Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010), Pathu Pathu (2008), KGF: Chapter 1 (2018), Sangathamizhan (2019), and many more. His last film was Anti Indian (2021) which was released posthumously. He died in May 2021 in his hometown due to COVID-19. He is survived by his wife (Clara Manimaran) and one daughter (Nivya Angel).
