Dr. Subhash Bhende is a well-known Marathi writer. He was born on 14 October 1936. This Goa-based writer is famous for humorous writing. Bhende has a doctorate in economics. Through writing, he shows the middle-class life, elite society, education sector, etc. He wrote very confidently in various genres such as novels, dramas, portraits, children's literature, etc. He portrays the lifestyle, the social system, and life in the convent of Goa through his writing. His main subgenre is humorous writings and 19 collections of humorous writings were published.
He was the president of the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan organized at Karad in 2003. Name of his books are Sahitya-Sanskrit (Srividya Prakasana, 1999), Kinara (Mêjesṭika Prakāśana, 1994), Pitali Daravaja (Srividya Prakasana, 1993), Nivadaka gambhira ani gamatidar (Mejestika Prakasana, 1990), Jethe jato tethe (Srividya Prakasana, 1990), etc. This renowned writer left us in December 2010.
