V.J. James is a renowned Malayalam writer and an Engineer by profession. He was born in Changanassery, Kottayam in Kerala, India. He studied at St. Theresa’s Higher Secondary School in Vazhappally and later attended St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Champakulam. Later, he studied at St. Berchmans College in Changanacherry, where he took a pre-degree. James graduated Mechanical Engineering at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering and had worked as an Engineer at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
He presented his subjects with his own unique ways, and he became a known personality in the literature world. His first book was entitled Purapaadinte Pusthakam, which was published by DC Books. The book won in the DC Books 25th- anniversary celebration in the year 1999. It also gave him notable awards such as DC Silver Jubilee Award, Rotary Literary Award, and the Malayattoor Prize. His second book was entitled Dathapaharam, which is a story about Freddy Robert. James’ other books include Leyka, Chorashasthram, and Ottakkaalan Kakka. His last novel entitled Nireeshwaran won at the Kerala Bhasha Institute, Basheer Award, and Thoppil Ravi Award. His narration style earned him attention and praises.
James also did short stories. He has written Shavangalil Pathinaraman, Pranayopanishath, Bhoomiyilekkulla Thurumbicha Vathayanangal, and Vyakulamathavinte Kannadikkoodu.
