In the early years of Malayalam films, Gayathri Sreekrishnan was a well-known playback singer. In 1956, Gayathri made her screen debut with the release of "Rarichan Enna Pauran." Thekunnu Nammaloru was her debut solo playback song. She also performed the Shantha P. Nair-featuring song "Nazhoori Palukondu," which immediately became a smash. She performed with Tikkurussi during her long career as an actor-singer before joining All India Radio as an announcer and hosting the children's program "Balalokam." In addition to writing many radio plays, she also composed and sang songs. When Mohammad Rafi visited Kerala, she, too had the extraordinary chance to work with him. She married her All-India Radio colleague, G. S. Sreekrishnan, in 1958. At the age of 85, she passed away.
