Vinodini Sasimohan is Viswa Kala Kendra’s (an institution for dance founded by her father) Chief Administrative Officer in Thiruvananthapuram, India. She is also a child actress and appeared as Baby Vinodini in 17 Malayalam films during the 1960s. Vinodini is the youngest daughter of Guru Gopinath, a popular classical dancer in India and Mulakkal Thankamani, a Mohiniyattam dancer. Her sisters Vilasini and Vasanthi were also popular child artists in the Malayalam cinema. Her parents were both actors in the Malayalam field and the first couple to play as husband and wife in the Malayalam film, Prahlada, which was directed by K. Subrahmanyam in 1941. The prints of this film were destroyed because of a fire, and only the stills of the film are available.

Vinodini earned the Sinema Masika award for three times in the span of her acting career, due to her brilliant performances in her films. At that time, Sinema Masika is the only award presented in the Malayalam film industry. She stopped doing child roles after she bagged the role of Devi Kanya Kumari in the1974 Malayalam film, Devi Kanyakumari, which wasdirecteed by P. Subramaniam. She became famous for her portrayal in the film. However, this film marks the end of her acting career since she declined several film offers. Instead, she continued her studies and took MA Sociology. In 1981, she got married to T. Sasimohan, the Santhigiri Ashram’s Associate Editor and also a Senior Journalist in Mathubhumi Daily. This couple has two children namely S Gopimadhav and S Mathangi.
