Engandiyoor Chandrasekharan is a poet and film lyricist based in the Malayalam cinema. He was born in Engandiyur village, Thrissur district, Kerala, India. He completed his junior secondary education at St. Thomas School in Engandiyur but discontinued studies after the 10th Standard. He joined his family business of carpentry. He shares a passion for poetry, songs, temple art, and acting. He started a manuscript magazine, which got him the opportunity to meet Kunjunni Master, who had a significant influence on his literary career. He idolized the trio of Kunjunni-Ravunni-Mulanezhy. His mother, Lakshmi Narayanan, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his interests. He was brought up by listening to songs and stories of activists narrated by his grandmother, his singing habits was influenced by the storytelling, Tullal, and Purattu plays at Ambalaparamas. He stamped his mark by writing songs for films like Japam (2003) and Munna (2007).

Since then, he has written songs for numerous films such as: Urumi, Grandmaster, Chappa Kurishu, and many more. His work is recognized and well-received by the audience. His song from Urumi, ‘’Kathirullam Kettun Kettun’’ was a buzz when released. Alongside this, he has also written songs for numerous acclaimed albums. The song which garnered him the utmost attention was the folk song titled ‘’Ninnekanan Memnam Than Chanthamotonun Kunjipene’’, which was released in 2019 and sung by Prathap. The song was at the forefront of all music albums; however, people believed that it had been written by someone unknown in the past. In addition to this, he has also published three collections of poetry named Veethun, Poopatam Theepatam, and Ninnekanan Menekalakum.
