Salam P Shaji

Salam P Shaji is an assistant director based in Kerala. He predominantly works as a second-unit director, particularly in Malayalam films. He made his debut with a film called Vahni which was released in 2018. The story is about a village woman named Devi who fights against her fate and society. Due to certain incidents in her life, she becomes the only woman to do the job of burning the corpses according to the Hindu traditions in Kerala. The film shows how she took up that job and how she is fighting back to raise her only child. Even though people in her society worship goddesses, but in real life the women are treated badly and have been restricted from many practices.
