Prasanth Nair is a film director and IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer from India. Nair was born in Thalassery, Kannur District, Kerala, in 1986. His childhood was in Thiruvananthapuram where he completed his high school education from Loyola School. After that, he went ahead and completed his graduation in the field of law from Government Law College, University of Kerala. Prasanth obtained an All India Rank 4 in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) examinations in 2007 and he was appointed to the Kerala Cadre. Now, he serves as a Special Secretary to the Government of Kerala. Prasanth is fluent in English and Malayalam.
He has also completed several other educational milestones from different universities, namely, Auditing from the National Academy of Audits and Accounts, Public Finance from the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, Public Administration from Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration and Project and Procurement Management from Asian Institute of Management. In Kozhikode when he was the District Collector from 2015 to 2017, he is well renowned for his innovative projects for poverty eradication and city management such as Compassionate Kozhikode, Operation Sulaimani, and Savari Giri.
He was involved with several projects with the World Bank such as KSTP and Jalandhini. Nair also held several other positions in various sectors like Tourism, Roads, Water Supply, Taxation, and Skill Development. Prasanth is often defined as a jack of all trades due to his exponential career path. He wanted to be a cinematographer in childhood. So after securing a good position with his white collar job, he pursued his dream career as a film director. At the 71st Cannes Film Festival, Prasanth's film Daivakanam, which he directed, also won an award.
