Vidyabhushana is a popular singer from Karnataka. Considered an authority in Carnatic classical music, he sings devotional songs, mainly those composed by Haridasa. His first record was "Dasara Padagalu" and the 100th - "Tanu Ninnadu Jivana Ninnadu" which became very famous. His fame rose as he traveled around the globe, performing in concerts. He was once a pontiff of Subhramanya Mehta before he chose to become a full-time musician. He now has almost 200 records to his credit. His musical training was started by his father, the late Sri Govindacharya.
He then trained under Sri B. V. Narayana Aithal of Udupi. He later expanded his knowledge as a disciple of famous musicians like Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri R. K. Srikantan and T. V. Gopalakrishnan of Chennai. He has now been working for over 20 years. He was titled with Sangeetha Vidya Nidhi in 1994. He also earned an honorary doctorate from the Hampi University. He is a founder trustee of the "Bhakti Bharathi Prathistana" Trust, through which he tries to spread his devotion and services as a musician.
The trust is involved with the organization of extensive musical vents in order to celebrate Shri Purandara Dasara Aradhana. He lives in Bangalore with his wife and two children.
