Sharat Kumar is an Indian bilingual writer. He was born on 29 July 1937. He is from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Sharat Kumar joined Indian Navy after graduating from National Defence Academy. He served till 1966 in Indian navy and then pursued his career in management and wrote “Mind your Management” in 2002. The book was awarded as “The Best Management Book” of the year in India. Later he became the director of IMT, Ghaziabad. Sharat Kumar is a passionate writer and tries to blend fiction with real world. Along with writing, he is also known for making films and writing scripts. Sharat Kumar expressed the reason why he chose to write fictional stories because according to him our education system does not focuses on the emotions. It is based on practical things. He believes that it is the fiction that teaches emotions. He is known for his fictional and non fictional novels.
Some of his renowned work includes ‘Orange Moon’, ‘Mind Your Management’ and ‘ Lal Kothi Alvida’. Orange Moon was published in 2002 and revolves around an Indian girl named ‘Dipti’. The novel beautifully shows how the girl deals with a situation where she is in dilemma about her relationship. Lal Kothi Alvida was published in 2004 in Hindi and the English edition i.e. “Farewell Red Mansion” was published in 2009. His most famous and most important in his career was “The White Marble Burzi and Other Stories” gained huge popularity among masses. The novel tries to show the relationship between a man and woman.
