Kamlesh Pandey is an Indian Screenwriter. He works in the Hindi Film Industry as a Screenplay Writer. He also worked as a writer for a few Advertisements and Television Shows. He was born in Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. He is currently staying in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Kamlesh started as a copywriter for Hindustan Thompson Associates.
He later worked for Grant Advertising Pvt. Ltd and Rediffusion Advertising Pvt. Ltd. He worked for many famous brands like Colgate, Maruti, Airtel, BPL, Telco, Eveready, and many more. Kamlesh Pandey is an Indian screenplay writer, Indian dialogue writer, Story writer, and Creative consultant. He is from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, and lives in Mumbai. He has more than 30+ years of experience in Advertising, 20 years' experience in Films, and 14 years of experience in Television. He started his career as a copywriter in advertising in 1970 with Hindustan Thompson Associates. Then worked as a copy chief from 1973-74 at Sista’s (now Saatchi & Saatchi) and Grant Advertising Pvt Ltd (now contract advertising) as Head of Creative in 1976.
He then joined Rediffusion Advertising Pvt Ltd (now Rediffusion DY&R) as Head of the Creative Department in 1976. He worked there from 1976 to 1992, and during his tenure, Rediffusion saw great success. Kamlesh Pandey won the best Copywriter of the year award for continuously four years since its inception in 1978. He has worked with the most prestigious companies such as Maruti, Airtel, BPL, Colgate-Palmolive, Union Carbide, Eveready, Exide, Rajanigandha, and Telco.
In 1987, He entered the film industry and wrote various blockbuster movies, till date he has written over 40 films which includes Jalwa, Tezaab, Chalbaaz, Dil (1990), Saudagar(1991), Khalnayak(1993), Bhagyawan(1993), Jaan(1996), Farz (2001), Rang De Basanti(2006), Jazbaa(2015). He has written Karamchand for Pankaj Parashar, Kachchi Dhoop, and Naqab for Amol Palekar. He joined Zee TV as head of programming in 1992 and later left in 1995. He is a member of Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council, Indian Documentary Producers Association and Film Writers Association, Mumbai.
He teaches Screenplay at Subhash Ghai's Whistlingwoods as a visiting faculty. He revived traditional game show Antakshari.
