Kesarbai Kerkar was a Hindi vocalist based in India. She was born on 13 July 1892 in the village of Keri, North Goa, Goa, India. When she was sixteen, she moved to Mumbai with her mother and uncle. She studied under the sitar player and court musician, Barkat Ullah Khan, there. She became an accomplished Khayal singer of her generation. She sang light classical music, in association with other female vocalists.
Her recordings include Classical Vocal CD from Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2008, Golden Milestones in 2003, Vintage 78 Rpm Recording on CD, Living Music of the Past CD from Underscore Records site, and Baithak Series – Live concert Recordings published by Sangeet Kendra. She was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1953, and the Padma Bhushan in 1969.
