Rachana Parulkar is a renowned Indian model, dancer and television actress. She was born on October 10, 1990 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She studied at Gyan Kendra School and graduated at Mithibai College in Mumbai. She took up a Masters in English Literature at the S.N.D.T Women’s University in Mumbai. Rachana is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer at the Nalanda Bharatnatyam Nritya Niketan or NBNN. She also studied Kathak dance in Uma Dorga School of Kathak Dance.
She started acting at 18 in the popular Hindi television serial, Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar on Zee TV. She replaces
Ulka Gupta
in essaying the character of Saawri, daughter of
Saloni Singh
(played by
Rajshree Thakur
) who appears after a generation leap. She also made a cameo appearance in the Balaji Telefilms’ Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil on STAR Plus and an episodic in the crime-based television series, Gumrah: End of Innocence on Channel V India. In 2011, she played as Akruti in Shakuntalam Telefilms’ Sapno Se Bhare Naina but she gained more popularity in the family drama series,
Ek Mutthi Aasmaan
on Zee TV. She was starred as Kalpana Raghav Singhania, the wife of Raghav Singhania (played by
Aashish Chaudhary
). Her portrayal as a lower middle class girl who tries to make her own place in the corporate world gained her praises and appreciation. She also received a nomination at the Zee Gold Awards. But later, she met an accident in the serial and her character was replaced by
Asha Negi
of
Pavitra Rishta
. In 2014 up to now, the actress is playing the role of Maharani Ajabde Punwar in the historical drama series, Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap on Sony TV. Rachana has a good chemistry with her on-screen partner, Sharad Malhorta who played the main lead role as Maharana Pratap Singh. She is also happy in essaying her role in the serial especially the costumes and jewelries that make her look like a real queen.
Rachana’s first love is dancing, followed by acting. But very few knows that she is also skilled in playing badminton. She also wants to stay fit so although, she do not go to the gym, she assured that she always have time for dance. She never had an experience or formal training as an actress before she donned acting in Saat Phere, but she has proven her mettle and reached the success that she deserved.
