Mahesh Bhupathi

Mahesh Shrinivas Bhupathi is a former Indian tennis player born on 07th June 1974 in Madras, Tamil Nadu. Mahesh used to compete in the doubles category and was the World No. 1. Together they won the French Open, making him the first Indian to achieve a victory at a major tournament. They later achieved World No.1 rank in the men's doubles team. In 2006, Bhupathi won the Australia Open under the mixed doubles category, paired with Martina Higgins. This win allowed Mahesh entry into the elite group of tennis players who had a ‘career Grand Slam’, i.e., who won all four Grand Slams in the same year. He was a member of the Indian Davis Cup team from 1995 to 2011 and was named the non-playing David Cup captain in 2016.
