Arjun Halappa is a well-known former Indian Hockey Player. He was also the captain of the Indian Hockey Team. He used to play from the forward position. He was born on 18 December 1980 in Somwarpet, Kodagu, Karnataka. His father was B.K Halappa, a player of East Bengal Club Hockey. His wife is Bhavana. In 1988, he joined Centre Of Excellence and later played for Senior Nationals in Hyderabad. With the guidance of coach C.R. Kumar and Harendera, he debuted at Junior International in Europe. In the Junior Asia Cup 2000, he scored eight goals.
In 2001, he made his international debut for the Men’s National Team in the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup against Egypt. He represented India in the Junior World Cup (2001), Hobart, Summer Olympics 2004, Champions Challenge (2001), Kuala Lumpur, Asian Games(2010), Guangzhou, and Common Wealth Games(2010) Delhi. The team won Gold in ChampionsChallenge (2001) in Kuala Lumpur, Silver in the Common Wealth Games(2010) in Delhi, and Bronze in the Asian Games(2010) in Guangzhou. Arjun also played for clubs such as Banglore Hi-Fliers, Karnataka Lions, and Dabang Mumbai.
