Rowilson Rodrigues is an Indian footballer who plays for Delhi Dynamos as a center back. Hailing from Majorda, Goa, he fell in love with the sport at a young age and joined Goa's esteemed SESA Football Academy in 2005, when he was 18-years old.
He trained there until in 2006 he joined Churchill Brothers. His five-year long career with the Goan club was a fruitful one for both the parties. In the first two seasons with Brothers, Rodrigues wasn't a regular show. It was in the 2008-09 season that he became a regular when Govin Singh injured himself during a practice session. His performance in the match was impressive, and he continued to be in the playing 11 for the rest of the season.
He helped the club have their best year in the history by improving its defense quality. The club won three major titles, namely, I-League, Durand Cup, and IFA Shield in the 2008-09 season. He then went on to be a part of the squad for 2010 Asian Champions League Qualifiers and 2010 AFC cup with them, where the club finished as runners-up and qualified for the next round.
Seeing his potential, he was included in the U-23 squad for the 2010 Asian Games and regularly showed up in the starting XI throughout the tournament. He played an integral role in the team reaching pre-quarters. The defender's performance in the competition caught the attention of CBFC's local rival Dempo who signed him. For the two years he remained with the club, he made 24 appearances and scored one goal. In 2013 he left Dempo to join Kolkata-based Mohun Bagan for whom he played ten matches.
But after a tough season with the club, he re-joined Dempo and appeared on 19 of their games. In 2014, FC Goa signed the defender on loan. Growing up idolizing Robert Pires and Andre Santos, signing with Goa FC felt like a dream come true for he not only got to train and play with them, he had former Brazilian attacking midfielder, Zico for a coach.
The following year Mumbai City FC signed him temporarily, he appeared for four games for them. In 2017 Delhi Dynamos signed Rodrigues for the 4th Edition of ISL during which he appeared for eight games and displayed impressive performance. Currently, he is training for and looking forward to the upcoming ISL edition in September end.
