Charu Rohatgi

"Charu Rohatgi" is an accomplished Indian television and movie actress. She has acted in many movies and serials and her latest movie role were in the successful Indian movie ‘Ishaqzaade’. She was raised in Calcutta, where she acted in some plays. This was where she was introduced to acting. As the daughter of a rich businessman, she did not have to worry about money. Her family includes two daughters.

One in Mumbai and the other one in Calcutta. Charu Ji died on 15th January 2018 due to cardiac arrest, at the age of 48. A source close to Charu told that the cause of death was stress, as she was shooting until 3 am.” Her funeral was performed at Shiv Dham in Mumbai's Goregaon East on 16th January 2018. Charu Rohatgi news flooded the social media with people mourning over the loss of one of the matchless actor of the time.

Her television debut was on the Sony TV serial, ‘Ladies Special’. Her first major role in movies came in the movie ‘Patiala House’ in which Akshay Kumar plays the protagonist. Rohatgi had once said she had always wanted to be an actor, but couldn't start her career till after her daughters' weddings. She did not act for some time after the passing away of her husband, but after the marriage of both her daughters, they convinced her to move to Mumbai and follow her dreams of acting.

She has done several other movies and series, and was featured in the promotional miniseries, ‘Ek Thhi Naayika’. She also played the role of Parineeti Chopra’s mother in Ishaqzaade, after which she appeared in the Zee TV show, ‘Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dor Se’ as Dai Maa.

In the show, she played the role of the female lead’s caretaker. She was last seen as Barun Sobti's Nani (maternal grandmother) in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3.
