Khajan Singh Tokas is an Indian sports personality born on 6th May 1964 in Munirka, a village near South West Delhi. Khajan Singh Tokas is an expert swimmer in freestyle and butterfly strokes. He was a National Swimming Champion and had brought medals for India from the International arena. He won the silver medal at the Asian Games held in Seoul in 1986. Khajan Singh Tokas studied at the Sarojini Nagar Government Senior Secondary School in Delhi. Khajan Singh’s best friend is Ajay Tokas. They both met at the school and developed a great bonding.
Khajan made his debut in Swimming in 1981-82. At the National School Championships held in 81-82, he won five gold medals. In 1982, he took part in the National Aquatics Championship, held in Delhi. In that competition, he won 5 gold, 2 silver and a bronze medal. In 1983, he grabbed 7 gold medals, 2 silver medals and a bronze medal at the Nationals held in Trivandrum. When the National Aquatic Championship was held in 1987 at Ahmedabad, he took part in the competition and grabbed seven gold medals. He also created a huge national record in the 100m freestyle. He set the new record of swimming 100m in 55.21 seconds. With this, he broke his own record of 55.34 seconds created in the South Asian Games in 1984, held in Kathmandu. He received the honorary Arjuna Award from the Government of India in 1984, which added a gem to his crown.
In 1986, the Asian Games were held in Seoul and Khajan took part in the 200m Butterfly event and won a silver medal. After 1951, it was the first medal won by India at the Asian Games. In 1988, he won a silver in the 100m butterfly event at the World Police Games and a bronze in Asian Swimming Championships held in Beijing. Khajan won seven gold medals at the South Asian Games in Islamabad in 1989. Khajan is the Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Central Reserve Police Force. He trains people at his Khajan Singh Swimming Academy in New Delhi.
