Giani Sant Singh Maskeen born in 1934 was a renowned Sikh scholar and theologian known for his deep understanding of Gurmat and Gurbani. He moved to India in 1947 during the Partition from his birthplace of Lakki Marwat, now in Pakistan. Maskeen ji was honored with the title of Panth Ratan, the highest honor awarded by one of the Takhts for his exceptional services to the Sikh community and humankind through the message of Gurbani. Additionally, the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee awarded him the Gurmat Vidya Martand award and the posthumous Bhai Gurdas Gold award.
Maskeen Ji spoke Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, and Persian with proficiency. He also had a basic understanding of English. He studied Sri Guru Granth Sahib passionately, gaining an in-depth understanding of the Vedas and Bhagat Banis. His daily preaching of Guru Granth Sahib on the National TV network telecasted worldwide. He passed away on 18th February 2005 due to a heart attack in Uttar Pradesh, India.
