. Zila was trained by her father from a very young age. By a very strict practice of 16-17 hours a day, Zila mastered in classical music and got the interest in it. Zila has performed in many national and international music festivals. Zila has been singing in various genres such as Indian Classical, Semi-Classical, Sufi, Folk & Bhakti Sangeet. Zila Khan is also a Music Therapist and Consultant. The first Music Therapy wing in India was started by her.
In the year 2004, the Ministry of External Affairs had asked Zila Khan to make a documentary on the life of her father. The documentary is named as Spirit to Soul. Zila Khan is regularly invited by the Indian Government to perform at President and Prime Ministerial level receptions on multiple occasions. She has a son Faizan Shaikh Khan. Zila has been awarded several awards such as Roll of Honor and the Ghalib Award.
