She was born and brought up in Kota, Rajasthan. She has a degree in Master of Arts in singing. She moved to Mumbai in 2000 to pursue her career as a full-time singer. She has been an excellent singer since childhood and started singing at three. She was significantly influenced by her grandfather Late Shri Pandit Navalkishore Rao and her father Late Shri Tej Karan Rao. She received the blessings from legendary Padmashree Ravindra Jain who is a music director as her guru. As a child singer she sang in the film Jangbaz which was released in 1989. She also has an international reach as she has performed worldwide in various shows like Canada, Dubai, Mauritius, Singapore, USA, Britain, Nepal, and many more.

She has also performed in grand events of prominent industrialists, politicians, and royal families. She is known as the folk queen of Rajasthan.
