Born on 6th January 1990 in Mumbai, Shalini Prateek Sinha is a professional Indian classical singer. Shalini was influenced by her mother who introduced her to music at the young age of three and for the next twelve years, under the guidance of Pt. Sri Ram Prakash Mishra, Shalini would go on to train and study music. Her music journey led her to Banaras in Varanasi where she was taught by a Padma Bhushan awardee, Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra, a prominent figure in the scene of Banaras Gharana. Then she headed to Banaras Hindu University to pursue further education in music. Here, she attained both her bachelor’s as well as a doctorate in classical music.
Shalini participated in several competitions and won several awards for her outstanding skills in singing. She represented her university at the Inter-University National Youth Festival 2006-2007 held at the University of Madras and won First place in Semi-Classical Vocal. She also came First place in Classical Vocal during the Inter-Faculty Youth Festival ‘Spandan 2007’ as well as in the 47th All Indian Music Competition held in Allahabad to name a few. The Banaras Hindu University awarded Dr Shalini Prateek Sinha with a Gold Medal for her achievements in the field of classical music.
