, who were themselves the pinnacle of Indian classical music in their eras, provided her with her earliest training in vocal music in the Kirana Gharana style and jugalbandi style. The nephew of Alladiya Khan, Ustad Nathan Khan of the Jaipur Gharana, Prof. B. R. Deodhar, and Pandit Master Krishnarao Phulambrikar of the Gwalior Gharana were a few of the mentors from various Gharanas who trained her. Sunderrao Rane was her husband. Sarswatibai received several awards, including the Balgandharva Purskar (Government of Maharashtra, 1966); Balgandharva Gold Medal; ITC Sangeet Research Academy Award; Yeshwantrao Chavan Puraskar; Guru Mahatmya Puraskar; and Kirana Gharana Award in 1999.
