Ankit Vengurlekar is an award-winning radio jockey from India, who is also a television show host. Ankit did his graduation from the Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai. He started his career as a restaurant manager in Taj Hotels, Resorts, and Palaces.
After a short stint with Taj, he decided to pursue a career in anchoring on TV and Radio FM channel. In August 2005, Ankit auditioned for TV Network 18 channel and was selected as an anchor. He started hosting various half-hour weekly news feature shows such as Tech Guru, Switch, Tech Toyz Story Soon >> Read More... and Awaaz Overdrive, which was telecasted on various channels of TV 18. Most of these shows were award winning technology shows on CNBC channel.
So far, he can easily take credit for hosting 800 such half-hour weekly shows successfully. In addition, he has been the producer for over 500 shows for CNBC Awaaz in the Hindi language, which ran for half an hour. In the year 2012, while pursuing his anchoring business for CNBC, he got a call from 92.7 Big FM for a role of radio jockey. Due to his popularity and personal resources, he also got a chance to host a show in Marathi on Big 92.7 FM titled 'Masala Chaha'. In this show, he played popular Marathi movie music, while maintaining humor and energy throughout the three hours. Additionally, he spoke about current topics in the entertainment industry. The show was popular from day one and was highly adored by the audience. But after a 10-month career in Big FM (January – October 2012), he made his comeback again on the CNBC Channel. This time, he addressed not just the tech related programs, but also anchored two new shows. These were Tech Toyz on CNBC TV 18, and once again hosted the gadget show in CNN-IBN.
As an anchor in CNBC, he once again became popular for his chirpy, positive and friendly style in the show. In TV 18, Ankit and his partner Abhishek started off the day with energy and lots of fun, with the Tech Guru show. Audiences still miss Ankit from his Tech Guru show, as he quit the show. But audiences even found that the jodi of Ankit and Abhishek was really good, especially as hosts, for the Tech Guru show. In addition, he also hosted various award programs for the TV 18 channel show, and anchored various ground events and award ceremonies (CNBC Awaaz Consumer awards, CNBC Awaaz Travel awards).
After his eight-year successful career as an anchor on CNBC, Ankit joined Fame Tech as vice-president of the content head. Fame launched its technology vertical and roped in Ankit for its content. He worked for one year and five months (August 2014 – December 2015 ) in Fame Tech, and now has started his own company called 'The Gadgetwala'!
