Zarina Mehta is the maiden name of Zarina Screwvala. She is an Indian Producer. She was born in the year 1961 in the city of Washington D.C. in the world-dominant country United States of America. Along with her family, she moved to India at the age of eight. She completed her schooling from an all-girls school called J.B. Petit School for Girls. She graduated with a degree of Bachelors of Arts in Economics from the esteemed St. Xavier’s College which is situated in Mumbai. She did her post-graduation from Mumbai’s Xavier’s Institute of Communications.
She holds a degree of masters in Marketing and Advertising. Both of them later became her business partners. She married Ronnie Screwvala soon after. Along with her business partners, she co-founded the multi-million company UTV. Initially, the company was involved in making ads and some cooperate films. It was the first independent Indian Production House. The journey started with the production of a quiz show on the channel Doordarshan. Following its success, Zarina has been responsible for the creation and direction of The Mathmagic Show. She has also made an exclusive channel for kids which only shows cartoons and kid’s shows called Hungama TV. She has credited UTV with a musical and live reality shows channel called UTV Bindaas. In the year 2012, Disney bought UTV for 454 million dollars. Following the sale, Zarina quit UTV after working for 27 years in the company. Zarina is also a philanthropist and has a social cause foundation called Swades Foundation. Swades was initially named – SHARE – A Society to Heal, Aid, Restore and Educate. It works to empower the poor.
