Shazia Javed is a multiple award-winning media producer, director, and writer whose work is at prominent new media & film festivals globally, including Hot Docs, Durban International, DOXA, and Reelworld. Shazia holds an MFA in film from York University and an MSc in mass communication from Jamia Millia Islamia. In settings focused on the community, she enjoys instructing in filmmaking. She has had movies seen on streaming services like Netflix and television. "3 Seconds Divorce," "Namrata," "Can You Hear me?" and "#WeSayKnow" are just a few of the recent movies she has appeared in. Shazia began her professional career in New Delhi and currently resides and works in the Canadian Greater Toronto Region. She founded LifeSketch Media Inc., a production firm that tells the tales of underserved areas. She is on the Canadian Council of Muslim Women's Executive Board.
She was a workshop facilitator and instructor at the Regeant Park Film Festival and Green Lights Productions. Shazia is an adjunct professor of a video camera at the Jamia Milia Islamia's post-graduate TV Journalism program in the Department of Hindi. She has engaged in some top incubators, such as DOC Breakthrough and Reelworld's E20, Women in Director's Chair, where she received a development award from an industry jury. Shazia is one of the 2020 Playback 10 to watch. Shazia participated in the Banff Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media and the 2022 BIPOC Film & TV Showrunner Bootcamp.
