Aashish Rego

Aashish Rego is an award-winning music director who has composed music for over a hundred Indian television shows. Aashish Rego was born in 1972 in India. He was first introduced to music when he was nine. He started taking private tutoring for violin for three years. Also, he gave his first violin solo performance in a couple of years. Considering his talent, his parents enrolled him at the Bombay School of Music, where under the guidance of Mr. Pervez Doctor, Aashish Rego enhanced his skills. Then, he joined a western classical orchestra named Bombay Players Orchestra, and that’s when his professional journey in music began. In no time, Aashish Rego became the leader of the orchestra at the young age of fifteen.

Besides Violin, he learned various styles like Baroque, Ballad, Ballet, and more. Despite having a desire to make music a mainstream career, Aashish Rego did his higher studies in Microbiology and Biochemistry from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai and graduated in first class. He then completed another two years in law college. Aashish Rego recorded his first solo recording as a violinist when he was seventeen. He released his first album in the name Yeh Dil Deewana Hai and also composed a title track for Doordarshan. Aashish Rego played violin for many movies, including KuchKuchHota Hai, even so, he didn’t have many opportunities to exhibit his talent.

So, he studied a recording course from Bombay University and co-founded bands called Vedic Chant and Fire & Ice. In the band, along with performing as a violinist, he also worked as a sound designer, co-composer, and programmer. The changing point in his course took place in 2001 when he got selected to compose the music for the show Kaagar. For the stellar music, Aashish Rego received his first Indian Telly Award for Best Background Score.
