Raj Kamal is an acclaimed and one of the finest Indian music composers who worked primarily in the Hindi industry. He composed the official track and background score of the classic television show Mahabharat directed by B.R. Chopra. Raj Kamal is the son of Tulsidas. He was born on 15th January 1921 in Matoda in Rajasthan. He was the eldest of his five siblings. Raj Kamal married to Sagar and had six children. Three of them are composers and musicians. He made his debut in the music circuit with the film Saawan Ko Aane Do (1979 film). From them, he went on to compose for more than fifteen movies and several television shows. He changed his birth name 'Dalpat' to 'Raj Kamal' as he began his career in the Bollywood industry.

Some of his memorable compositions are Gagan Ye Samjhe, Kali Ghodi Dwar Khadi and Kya Hua. Raj Kamal's compositions had a strong connection with the land and its people. The song 'Chand Jaise Mukhde Pe,' sung by K. J. Yesudas, remains a classic work. Raj Kamal also had a strong run as a singer. Some of his songs in which he served as a playback singer, 'Gunje Gunje Re,' 'Jaane Kyu Hain,' and 'Maine Tumko Hi' remains timeless.
