Sreelekha Mitra is an eminent and versatile actress of the Bengali Cinema and TV. She is one of those incredible performers in the field of acting who have endeavoured to get themselves onto the ground of success. She became a well-known face on small screen industry with “Lays ad” where she featured along with
Saif Ali Khan. In 2004, Mitra had also appeared with
Aamir Khan for a “Coke ad” (Coca-Cola).
Sreelekha is also a judge on the Bengali standup comedy show “Mirakkel”. She is in turmoil regarding remarriage but claims she’s happy being single.
Sreelekha started her career in the late 90’s with “Ho that Bristi” (1998). She acted in many commercial hits like “Apan Holo Par” (2000), “
Annadata” (2002), “Debdoot” (2004). In 2005, she was critically acclaimed for her beautiful rendition of a homemaker who prioritized ambition in “Jonmodin”. “Kantatar” released in 2006, again lead Sreelekha to the acme of success. Her incredible depiction of Sudha, an illegal immigrant, won her the BFJA Award (2007) in the Best Actress category. Mitra won an Anandalok Award (2006), Kalakar Award, and was nominated for the Filmfare Awards-Bengali in the category of Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female).
Sreelekha ventured into some other films like “Tollylights” (2008), “Smritimedur” (2009), “Aschorjo Prodip” (2013), “Chaar” (2014) to name a few. Sreelekha too played the lead in “Mayer Biye” which aired in 2015.
