In 1990, Anju made her comeback by doing several TV series. She appeared on the Hindi TV drama series, Hamari Betiyon Ka Vivaah as the antagonist, Nupur Malhorta on Zee TV. She was also in the soap, Geet on STAR One as Savitri Devi Khuranna. She played the role of Beeji in the soap, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai.

Anju Mahendru is a Bollywood actress and a model. When she was at 13 years old, she entered into modelling field.

At that time, she was recognized by the famous lyric writer and poet Kaifi Azmi. He urged her to director Basu Bhattacharya. In 1966, he has given first chance in his own film "Uski Kahani”. This is the first movie for Anju Mahendru and also for Basu Bhattacharya. After that, she got a chance to perform in some more Hindi movies like Pyass (1982), Ganga Ki Saugand (1978) as Courtesan, Darwaza (1978) as Reshma,Mukti (1977) as Shanno,Umar Qaid (1975),Prem Shastra (1974) as Barkha Arora,Hanste Zakhm (1973),Dastak (1970),Bandhan (1969), Intaquam (1969) as India, Sunghursh (1968) as Kundan's sister,Jewel Thief (1967) etc. She didn't get the opportunity to act as the main lead. She acted as a supporting character in most of the movies. She performed in some of the movies during the 1980s and 1990s. 

Later in 1990s, she got a chance to act in Hindi Television serials. She performed Zee TV’s daily Hindi soap "Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah" as Trishna's mother-in-law. After that, she played in "Geet Hui Sabse Parayi" (as Maan's Daadi). She also played in the serial "Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai" as Daboo, Jeevika and Maanvi's Daadi. In the recent 20th century, she got a chance to act as supporting role with Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukerji in the movie “Saathiya" as Prema in 2002. In 2006 she acted in "Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye" with Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar.

Personal life she was offered with Bollywood’s famous Actor Rajesh Khanna. She also got rumor as engaged with Gary Sobers, who is a famous Cricket player. Shabana Azmi is Anju Mahendru's close friend. Shabana Azmi’s father only introduced her to a Bollywood film industry.
