Pinky Poonawala is a famous lyricist. Her mom took her to Kathak dance classes when she was around 3 yrs of age, she also performed on stage as a child artist and at around age 9, received Shankaracharya award in Pune for dance, that is her first memory of association with music through dance. As a child, she never understood religious discrimination and idol worship. She was always fascinated by the magic and mysteries of the universe. After working in many films like Swades, Her health condition becomes worse and because of bad health she was not able to go to the shoots, and then she realized that she is not enjoying her current work profile. Then her friend Mizo called her to help him by writing a few lines on his tunes.

She didn’t know she could write, but she tries. Then she got the chance to write the song for the winner of Indian Idol 5. she penned the song called Rehnuma sung by Sreeram Chandra. Since then, she doesn’t look back. Pinky Poonawala net worth is more than $6 Million. She thinks the reason behind fewer women lyricist is the erratic work timings. And also the films are more hero oriented and so are most songs. So Maybe this is the reason more male lyricists are preferred. But she also believes that for a writer it doesn’t matter whether he or she is writing for a male or female Growing up, she heard a lot of ghazals, classical songs, black and white movie songs that her father heard on the radio. Her mom is a writer/poet that played a part too.
