Ranjana Pandey is the one who has proved that women can do whatever she wants. She is a playwright, theatre, and television director. She was born in 1949 in Gwalior. She had completed her graduation in English Literature from Delhi University. She has also earned an MA degree in Mass Communication and a Diploma in Journalism. She is the teaching and training faculty of Jamia Millia Islamia. Later she went to Belgium to take training in puppetry. She took this training under Theatre Toone, Theatre Tilapia, and Théâtre du Péruchet.
In 1982, she established Jan Madhyam. This company uses puppetry for educational purposes. Weekly, Jan Madhyam organizes a show for youth, Chowkoo-Pili. This show articulates the values and rituals of social life. Later Ranjana Pandey came up with a children's series, Khullam Khulla, in 2000-2002. This show premiered in Doordarshan.
