Ram Daryani was born in 1915 in Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan. He is one of the most celebrated Indian film directors who directed a large number of notable films, out of which Tarana, which starred Madhubala and Dilip Kumar was directed in 1951, is one of his best work. Some of his other (also notable) works include: ‘Bhai Bahen’ (1950) and, ‘Chand Mere Aja’ (1960). According to several sources, he produced 24 films in total, during his directing career, spanning from the early weeks of Indian independence in 1947 to 1979 when he directed Gentlemen Daku. In addition to being a director, he also directed films such as Pratima and Gentleman Daku.
His range of works includes all sub-genres of romance and comedy, such as Tarana, and historical dramas like Mumtaz Mahal. One of his best films to ever release was Tarana, which forever allowed Madhubala and Dilip Kumar to be carved into stone as one of the best couples ever to grace the big screen. Daryani directed films starring Nargis, Sahni, and Jairaj which included, Paheli Shaadi, Majboori and Mumtaz Mahal respectively. Even after releasing his final work, Tarana, Daryani went on to direct Chand Mere Aja, which starred Bharat Bahusan and further expanded his brand in the Indian film discipline.
