Nitin completed high school in from Don Bosco Academy in Patna in the state of Bihar.

He completed his under graduation by completing engineering first. He then joined the University of Pune's Media Production Program to pursue and understand filmmaking. Nitin first worked as a producer. His first short movie was called The Outsider. His first documentary was called Bring Back Bihar. This movie was produced by Nitin.

The movie Bring Back Bihar was released in the year 2009. In the year 2008, Nitin along with his sister Neetu established a production house named The Champaran Talkies. Nitin started as the creative head of Champaran talkies. Currently, he is the co-owner of Champaran talkies. His next movie was Deswa. For this movie, Deswa, Nitin acted as the writer as well as the director. The movie Deswa was produced under Champaran talkies. Deswa was also nominated for the International Film Festival of India at Goa in the year 2012. Nitin’s one of the most popular movies was Once Upon A Time In Bihar.

Mithila Makhaan was made in the year 2016 but due to financial reasons could not be released to the public eye until the year 2019. This movie was a Maithili language drama. This movie was based on the journey of the protagonist back to Homeland. This movie Mithila Makhaan won the 63rd national film award under the language category. The movie was also selected for the International Film Festival of South Asia in Toronto.
