Lavrenti Lopes Hindi Actor

Lavrenti Lopes

Lavrenti Lopes is an Indian actor-cum-model in Hollywood. He was born on 29 March 1986 in a Goan family based in Mumbai. He completed his schooling at Fatima High School in Vidhyavihar, Mumbai. Since childhood, he was crazy about the film industry, be it Bollywood or Hollywood, and was hell-bent on becoming an actor. In 2007, due to a weak Indian educational structure for his chosen field, he flew to New York to join the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. This education system, however, turned out to be costly for him, but he claims to have grown through this struggle. Lavrenti’s initial work has been in commercials, print ads, and theater. He was recognized for his work in the Tata True Roots Calling Card commercial which rose to popularity all over the internet. His next work was for print advertisements as in Microsoft, and Flair Pens, to name a few. He has performed on stage twice- first as Raj in Savianna Stanescu’s ‘E-Dating’ and second as Johannes in ‘Barely Legal.’ In 2011, he debuted in Hollywood in the role of Faisal in the Venezuelan film titled ‘SubHysteria.’ The year 2012 gifted him work in four films and three small screen roles. The four films include- ‘Afghan Hound,’ a film set in the war zone of Afghanistan, ‘Desperate Endeavours,’ Salim Khassa’s adaptation of Jayant Patel’s ‘Seeking Home,’ ‘Love, Lies and Seeta,’ Chandra Pemmaraju’s Indian-American rom-com and finally, ‘Life! Camera Action,’ a quasi-autobiographical film directed by Rohit Gupta. He played minor roles in ‘Wedding Band’ (a comedy-drama which ran on TBS), ‘Review’ (Andy Daly portrays Forrest MacNeil reviewing real life experiences on Comedy Central), and ‘Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23’ (an American sitcom starring Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker). In 2013, Lavrenti also played a minor role in the latest hit television series-‘New Girl’- starring Zooey Deschanel in the lead. Lavrenti, in his interviews, has stated that he wanted to pursue a career in Bollywood but due to a lot of nepotism in the Indian film industry, he couldn’t make it. He quotes Aamir Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, and Shabana Azmi to be his inspiration. He currently lives in L.A. and awaits the release of his upcoming film, ‘The Mad Ones,’ in which he is cast in one of the lead roles.

Lekh Tandon

Lekh Tandon is primarily an Indian director but has played a few roles in films as well. He was born on 13 February 1929 in Lahore (British India). He completed his schooling from Khalsa High School, Lyalpur. His father’s friendship with Prithviraj Kapoor proved to be a fortunate thing for Lekh’s career. On a holiday to Bombay, he stayed with Kapoor and toured the studios. This experience with Kapoor inspired him to make his career in the industry. He started as a cameraman under V.N. Reddy and later became an assistant director to Kidar Sharma. The turning point in Lekh’s career came when F.C. Mehra gave him the chance to direct ‘Professor,’ a family comedy starring Shammi Kapoor, which was released in 1962. After giving a super hit debut film as a director, he made back-to-back films for the next thirty-five years. He is best known for two films apart from ‘Professor,’ the first one being, ‘Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaaye,’ a typical Bollywood drama film produced by Rajshri in 1977. The film won him the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay in 19878. The second film, ‘Agar Tum Na Hote’ was also a box-office hit owing to a cast ensemble of Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, and Raj Babbar, and of course, a great storyline. In 1966, he directed a biopic on the life of Ambapali (the royal courtesan of Vaishali in ancient India) titled ‘Amrapali.’ Though the film flopped at the box-office, it was held responsible for India’s entry into the 39th Academy Awards. Lekh has also directed many television serials which aired on channels like Doordarshan and B4U. His first venture into the television industry was ‘Phir Wahi Talash.’ He has also acted in a few films like the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Swades’ and ‘Chennai Express.’ For a man beginning his career in the year of India’s independence, Lekh has proved his devotion to his goals through a lot of struggle. He had to fight his father’s propositions first to make him an engineer and then run a chemist shop. He has recently turned producer and claims that none of his works make him proud.
