Govind Saraiya is an Indian film director who was born in the Gujarati town Nadiad in 1929. Saraswati Chandra, Sajjo Rani, and Angarey are some of his most well-known films as a director. In 1960, he received a National Award for best educational/motivational/instructional cinema. Bombay University is where Govind earned his bachelor's degree. He studied animation at Walt Disney Studios and the National Film Board of Canada on a UNESCO fellowship, where he briefly apprenticed under Norman MacLaren. Before becoming an independent filmmaker, he worked at Films Division, where he established an animation lab. Gujarati masterpieces serve as the inspiration for these feature films. His film is Saraswati Chandra, is based on Govardhan Tripathi's epic novel, coupled with its sequel Gunsundari No Ghar Sansar. With the help of Kalyanji-Anandji's music, Saraswatichandra became a commercial success.

Ravishankar Maharaj was a social worker who worked with the 'criminal' tribes of Patanwadia and Baraiya before joining Gandhi's Bardoli Satyagraha.
