Moirangthem Maniram Singha is an Assamese filmmaker born in 1970 in North Lakhimpur, Assam. His father is Bolbihari. Moirangthem Maniram’s ancestral place is Phumlou, a village near Mayang Langjing in Manipur. His father moved to Assam when he was 14. Moirangthem Maniram Singha’s father learned to tailor and also attended a training course in ITI, Jorhat. Later, he launched a tailoring shop in Tinsukia. His shop was near a cinema theater. Maniram went to Doomdooma Don Bosco School in Tinsukia, a popular industrial town in Assam. As their shop was near the theater, Maniram watched almost all the films released there. He developed his interest in acting from his childhood, and his first act was a one-act play at his school day function. At that time, he was doing his 7th standard, and after watching his performance, his teachers encouraged him to script and direct a One-Act Play.

After getting into his college, he got an opportunity to assist a director in making a small video film. Then, he didn’t join anyone but developed his skills with his experience. Moirangthem Maniram Singha entered the cinema and TV industry in 1995 and had directed 25+ TV serials, telefilms, and documentaries. He directed the telefilms and documentaries in Assamese, Meitei, and English for the various Government departments and Doordarshan. It was premiered at the 39th International Film Festival of India in 2008, held in Goa. He directed Xondhikhyon in 2016, and his film, U R Not My Julie, didn’t hit the screens for some reason.

Maniram was studied at Doomdooma Don Bosco School, Tinsukia. He loves movies from childhood. He used to watch all the films as his Father’s shop was next to the cinema hall.

At first, he acted in a One-Act Play at his School annual day function while he was in class VII. In 1990 at his college days, he got chance to be the assistant director of an Assamese Video film. His films are Mon Jai which was released in 2008, U R Not My Julie, but it is not released yet, a one more Xondhikhyon, which was 2018.
