As a filmmaker, he has also made a documentary on the life and achievement of M. S. Sathyu, the filmmaker titled Kahan Kahan se Guzar Gaye. In an interview with the Associated Press of Pakistan, the veteran director and actor shared his thought that to make a drama or a film successful among the public, the story and the script is very vital. Even though experienced artists are considered to be the indicator of success to be compared to, the story and how it is narrated makes the production run well in the box offices.

To merely make the public to sit in front of their TVs and watch the entire show is a very challenging task that can be overcome by a good storyline and interesting writing. Although the efforts of actors and technicians play a vital role in any movie or TV series, the script is always the much-needed backbone. Masood Akhtar says that the upcoming writers and directors of television series and films should explore new topics and write about attractive subjects. He is content with the new directors and writers who have boldly ventured into unique points with the public's taste still in mind. Other factors that handle the success of a show are the actors, cinematography, costumes, editing, sound, etc. Masood Akhtar believes that these upcoming writers will be the promotion required to develop the entertainment industry.
