Manoj Punj

Manoj Punj was an award-winning director and screenplay writer who worked in Punjabi movies. He was born on 15th June 1970. Manoj was a graduate of arts. He is an experienced theater artist who worked in stage plays in Chandigarh. After completing his graduation, he joined Prof PS Nirola in making documentary films and films for corporates. After gaining experience, he moved to Mumbai to start his career in the cinema industry. He assisted many directors in the movie and TV industries. Later, he directed TV programs and then Punjabi movies.

In 1999, Manoj directed Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Boota Singh. In 2006, he directed Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris in Punjabi. It is a biopic on the Punjabi poet Waris Shah. Gurdas and Juhi played the lead roles. The film received four National Awards, including Best Feature Film in Punjabi, Best Male Playback Singer, Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design. Manoj won awards for almost all his films. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest and died on 22^nd October 2006.
