Mahesh Manjrekar is a renowned actor, director and producer in Marathi cinema. The actor has been in the film industry and theatre for over two decades now and is considered to be a powerhouse of talent. With films like Vaastav and Astitva, he made a mark for himself as a director. Afterwards, he made Virudh with Amitabh Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore.

This director wanted to re-make another Marathi movie’ Kaksparsh’ (2012) with Amitabh Bachchan but it did not materialize. Besides directing Hindi movies, he was best –known for playing over-the-top antagonists as inspector D.R. Talpade in film ‘ Wanted’ with Salman Khan, and even as Gangster Javed in Oscar –winner Slumdog Millionaire. Thus, he brought to life a series of iconic real-world and fictional villains in a series of films, He surprised everyone by playing a villain role in a Telugu film ‘Okkadunnadu’ and ‘ Homam’. In 2014, he also had acted in a Bengali movie ‘ Ardhangini’ with Mithun Chakraborty. He also impressed the audiences with the comic role in ‘ Kaante’ as a drug-dealer Bali. He reached a new audience with heroic roles as ‘Shivaji Maharaj’ in Marathi cinema with ‘Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy’.

The eminent Director - Producer also became famous for films like Rakht, ‘Viruddh… Family Comes First’, and’ Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi’ to name a few. In many of his Hindi films, he had cast Sanjay Dutt. The director is keen to direct Salman Khan provided that actor makes a mark in regional Marathi cinema now. Whether Mahesh Manjrekar has acted in films or directed films or even produced a film, audiences have just witnessed his astonishing talent in a variety of genres. The actor-cum-director won national award for Vaastav and won many applauds too.

Very recently, he scored the coveted role of the chief minister in Singham-2, giving him a recognition in one of the highest grossing films after ‘Wanted’. The actor-cum-director was born on August 16, 1958, and is married to Medha Manjrekar. He is a happily married person having two children and residing in Mumbai now.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt created a niche for himself as a screenplay, writers and even director as his movies dealt with emotion, pain, sufferings, exploitation and even trauma that was not very regular in arts or commercial cinema. His films always had focused women empowerment( Arth, Kaash, Sir, etc.). Arth and “Saaransh; remains his best film till date. His film story was mostly inspired from his own life.  For instance, Smita Patil’s character in Arth was inspired from his relationship with Parveen Babi. His films “Janam” and “Naam” also had depicted his personal feelings of being born as an illegitimate child. He was born on September 20, 1948 to Hindu father (Nanabhai Bhatt) and Muslim mother(Shirin Mohammed Ali). His father had another family.  Bhatt always found his mother as a driving force in life, and he wanted to earn for the sake of her only. When he received his first salary, he had handed it over to his mother. He met for first-time film director Raj Khosla and became his assistant. When he was young, he was dating Lorraine Bright (Kiran Bhatt), whom he married later and Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt are his children from his first wedlock.  His film 'Aashiqui' was a tale of Mahesh Bhatt and Lorraine Bright. Later, he met Parveen Babi and their affair was a reason for Kiran to part from him. Soon after divorcing with Kiran, he married Soni Razdan, an actress and had two children, Shaheen Bhatt and Alia Bhatt. Mahesh Bhatt entered that film industry at an age of 21, but he got noticed with Arth. Later he made art films like “Saaransh” in 1984 which was screened in an international film festival. After marking few good films like Daddy and Awargi, he made commercial films like Aashiqui”(1990), “Dil Hain Ki Manta Nahin”(1991), “Sadak” (1991).. He made an exit as a director after “Kartoos” was released. Later he took to screenwriting and had written screenplays for commercial films like Raaz, Jism 1 & Jism-2, Murder-1, Murder-2 and Murder-3 etc. he also made a film on Parveen Babi’s life and it was a tribute to her whom he had been dating to become a director in his life. Besides film, he also has also entered the world of theater.

Mehul Kumar is a renowned director of Hindi movies. In addition to directing, Mehul Kumar has been instrumental in numerous projects as an executive producer. He has helped bring many actors like Govinda, Raj Kumar, Amitabh, Nana and even Madhuri famous in cinema house. Obviously he has been a producer who exhibited his creativity as a good director too. Mehul Kumar is the most amateur filmmaker since his debut as a producer. Mehul Kumar’s film explored Mumbai riots, fear on rapes, etc. His movies totally relied on action-packed and drama sequences. The director made his beginning in the film- making through Gujarati films. He made his debut by his first debut Gujarati films ‘Janam Na Saathi‘ (1977) and his success stories were repeated for successful 20 Gujarati films. It was after his successful journey in Gujarati cinema; he stepped into Bollywood filmmaking in 1989. Mehul Kumar re-united Nana-Amitabh for Kohram, which won him critical acclaim. For earlier film Krantiveer, Nana Patekar also had won his first national award for his excellent performance, He has made many successful Bollywood films with Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Raj Kumar. Alok Nath, Naseeruddin Shah, Govinda, Madhur Dixit and Akshay Kumar.
