Jai Basantu Singh

Jai Basantu Singh is a writer, director and producer who works in the Hindi TV industry. Jai got his start in the entertainment world by working as the director for various ad films, campaigns and music videos. He made his presence known by ding a lot of work outside the TV industry. He has also been nominated for three international awards for his highly praised campaign films.

In 2008, he made his directorial debut for the TV serial called Kahani Humaray Mahabharat Ki. The series was absolutely bashed by the critics for its over the top portrayal of the mythological characters and hence Jai only directed two episodes. In 2009, he produced his first ever Marathi film, which was also his first-ever film produced called ‘Mau Mahine Nau Divas’. A hilarious comedy about a royal family of a Maharashtrian village. He is also responsible for the creation of the fan favourite Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, a romantic TV serial which won the hearts of the audiences when it first came out.

In 2020, Jai released Ek Duje Ke Vaaste 2, a sequel to the original which is supposed to be set in army background, the new series was set in Bhopal. Speaking to an interview for the press release of this show, Jai explained how shooting ‘Ye Un Dino Ki Baat Hai’ changed his perception towards directing and pretty much changed his life. The story of that show is based in the 90s era, which Jai claimed to put him out of his comfort zone, which only made him a better director. Hence, season 2 of Ek Duje Ke Vaaste will be even better as it is a military story with romance as the backdrop. 

Jai went on to direct over 20 TV serials, which include popular serials like Jeanie Aur Juju, Namune, Yeh Pyaar Nahi To Kya Hai and Just Dance Just dance was a dance reality show aired on Star >> Read More... . He also directed the Zee Cine Awards in 2017. Jai is also a very popular influencer on social media, he constantly writes and puts out small videos on his twitter handle and Instagram, talking about dealing with adverse situations in life and some motivational quotes.
