Merlin D'Souza was born on 31st May 1961. Merlin is an Indian Pianist, Musician, Composer, Music Director and Producer. She worked for various albums, films, advertisers, and theatre. Her music genres are Western-Classical, Bollywood, Jazz, and World Music. She grew up in Bandra, Mumbai. Merlin started practicing piano at the age of 6. When she was 9, Merlin performed as an artist for the All India Radio. At 12, she played piano in church. She performed for Noel Godin's musical production, at the age of 18. Merlin is a western-classical trained from Trinity College. Merlin started her career in 1996 as a soundtrack arranger for the film Fire. In 1998, she worked as a playback singer for the movie Bombay Boys.
Merlin was also a composer of the film Bas Yun Hi, released on 14th February 2003. In 2008, she was a playback singer and performer of the song Jab Phone Ki Ghanti Bajjey from the movie Hello. In 2018, Merlin composed and supervised a music video, Red. Merlin did a few music videos, such as I Bow to thee O Mother in 2020 and Jaago Zaraa in 2021.
