Sunil Borkar is a Mumbai based cinematographer born on January 28, 1991. He came from a northeastern town in Maharashtra. He pursued his education in animation in Pune. He started his career as a 2D animator and visual effects artist. Sunil’s career got a boost when he became the Visual Effects Supervisor. This boost introduced him to film sets, where his interest evolved in cinematography. His debut film, The Fable, was shot on a super 16mm film and premiered in the Encounter section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival 2024. He is also known for the 39-minute Kannada short film “Madhyantara” which was screened as part the Indian Panorama section at the 53rd IFFI, Goa, in 2022.
Over the years, Sunil has refined his distinct visual sensibility through his work in the film industry and worked on analog and digital photography. His interest in storytelling serves as a foundation for his appealing work.
